Course Outline:

The study of the art of the past is seen as valuable in itself and contributes to an understanding of the art and culture of the present. History of Art is concerned with the analysis and interpretation of works of Art within their cultural and historical context.


A selection of NCEA Units of work will be completed investigating both historical periods of the Renaissance and Modern era













































Out of Class Expectations and Commitments

Regular homework of 2 hours per week all year.  Considerable commitment of study time for photography.  Class time and out of class time computer use – location photography.


Where Does It Lead?

University Degree - Work in Galleries or Museums.

Research work, a writer or critic for magazines or newspapers.
