Entry Requirements:

This course may be taken by any senior student.  It is preferable that students have taken the Year 9 Art course and the Year 10 Art course.


Course Outline:

Students will develop their perceptual awareness, their creative imagination, their technical skills and critical faculties through the investigation of Artist models

and their own environment.  Students submit four projects through the year.  Three in work book format and one in Port–folio format.

Out of Class Expectations and Commitments

Regular homework of 1-2 hours per week in Term 1, building to 2-3 hours per week in Term 3. 

Course completion is Week 4, Term 4.


Where Does It Lead?

Level 2 and 3 Achievement Standards (in Years 12 and 13). Possible career opportunities: sign writer, advertising, publishing, industrial design, clothing and textile design, teaching, occupational therapy, photography, hairdressing, painter.  There are many courses at tertiary institutes throughout New Zealand.
