Entry Requirements:

This course may be taken by any senior student.  It is preferable that students have taken the Year 9 Introductory Course and the Year 10 Foundation Course.  Students should have a genuine interest, ability and commitment to the Dramatic Arts, and a desire to learn and improve.

Course Outline:

The Year 11 course aims for students to develop an understanding of themselves and others.  Students will also begin to focus more keenly on specific performance, technical, production and analytical skills and processes.  They will work to become more aware of the activities and attitudes necessary to be successful in the Dramatic and related arts – in a variety of roles.

While the course is still very much hands on and practical, there are elements of the course that demand a more academic approach, including research, detailed portfolio writing, note taking, developing specific performing arts language and literacies, understanding and using symbols and text, and responding to external assessment questions.

Assessment Outline:

Various aspects of this course are assessed through the completion of six Achievement Standards.

19 Credits: Internal Assessment (IA) – practical with theoretical components

5 Credits: External Assessment (EA) – written exam
