Entry Requirements: Students must have worked well in their study of Mathematics at Year 10.
Course Outline:
A broad based course consolidating and developing the work of Years 9 and 10 Mathematics. This course is intended for students who respond better to short term goals and who require a longer time to understand the material. Topics covered include Measurement, Transformations, Statistics, Number, Algebra, Trigonometry, Graphing and Geometry.
Assessment Outline:
This course is entirely internally assessed and includes both Level 1 Achievement Standards and Unit Standards. An extension opportunity exists to enter externally assessed achievement standards at the end of the year.
Out of Class Expectations and Commitments
Students are expected to do 10-15 minutes of homework in their write-on homework book each night.
Where Does it Lead?
This course could lead to either a full Achievement Standard course at Year 11 or onto the 12 Mathematics 2 or 3 course. It is also useful for any vocational area that requires a knowledge of basic mathematical skills.
