Entry Requirements:

This course may be taken by a student who has successfully taken music in Year 12 and gained ‘achieved’ grades.

OR

Who is at a minimum standard of Grade 5 on an instrument. 



Course Outline:

Students will further develop their performance, composition and general musicianship skills.


There is more of a focus on music technology this year with opportunities for students to record, mix and record their own CD’s using the school’s recording studio.

Students should note that it is likely this course will run as a composite class with Year 12.


Out of Class Expectations and Commitments

    It is expected that students studying music should:

            1.be learning an instrument from a teacher and practicing it at home

            2.be involved in music groups at school

            3.attend field trips and rehearsals when required



Where Does it Lead?

•Tertiary Study.

•Develops cognitive, presentation and communication skills.  Music is a holistic subject.  It combines languages, mathematics, technology, science, history and English.

•The skills you learn in music are applicable in all areas of employment
