Entry Requirements:      Achievement level or better in Year 11 NCEA Physical Ed and Science. 

                                          A satisfactory record of participation in Year 11 NCEA PE.


Course Outline:

A course of 6 Level 2 Achievement Standards.  A total of 22 credits.  A combination of academic and practical work.


Assessment  Outline:

The course is entirely internally assessed.  Assessment includes assignments, tests, seminars and evaluation of practical skills.  Students will need sports clothing suitable for physical activity, and the use of push bike and helmet for A.S. 2.3 in Term 3.  During Term 3 students will be required to attend two Sunday morning events:  the Winter Quadrathlon held on a Sunday morning in late July, and to participate in their choice of one from three Duathlon events in Term 3.  These are a compulsory element of the course and are required to earn the credits for the necessary Achievement Standards.

Where Does It Lead?

A self-contained course which leads to a greater understanding and appreciation of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. The course also provides foundation work for the Year 13 NCEA Physical and Outdoor Education course.
